Single Detached Housing Starts Surpass 2013

In November, Greater Victoria’s year-to-date single detached housing starts surpassed the total for last year.

Single detached starts are now at 524 vs 514 for all of 2013.

Municipalities throughout BC are also posting increased single detached starts.

Construction of single detached homes indicates a stronger economy, more young people securing jobs and starting families.

Condos are down from 999 in 2013 to 715 in 2014, however this product has carried the market for several years and slowing is expected as units are absorbed.
