Got a call from the City of Victoria building permit dept. Claimed the builder voluntarily opted for $2,500 engineering report for installing spray foam. Wrong. The builder was told by the permit dept that the engineering report is mandatory. We sent the permit dept their own permit order. They responded they can’t discuss it. They called us!
Builders say Victoria is the only municipality requiring engineering reports for spray foam already installed by trained technicians. In addition, if engineering reports are required, why are builders/homeowners paying thousands of dollars for inspections by the city?
The City of Victoria building permit dept is a costly, bureaucratic nightmare and it’s time city management and council took an interest. Municipal elections are Oct 17!
