Build Canada Homes Bureaucracy Won’t Fix the Problem

The federal government’s deadline for the Build Canada Homes consultation is August 29. VRBA sent a letter outlining the regulatory challenges in British Columbia ranging from the BC government policy of municipal self-determination (no responsible regional planning in Greater Victoria) to 100%+ increases in DCCs and even expansion of those municipal costs. Introducing another government bureaucracy (BC Builds already exists with negligible results) is unnecessary, costly and won’t fix the regulatory challenges. All three levels of government must let the market work and save taxpayers billions of dollars.
